There are a handful of digital sculptors/designers that I support, for whose work I currently have—or can easily get—a commercial license (i.e. permission from the artist to sell 3D prints). Choosing a model from one of these folks is probably the best bet; I already know that I enjoy working on these models, and that the files will be high quality and good for printing.
